Practice

My background in Yoga began with a casual practice over 20 years ago. Gradually, I became more dedicated and curious about the power of Yoga and began seeking the deeper aspects of the practice. That led me to my first teacher training in 2013. From there, I studied with Manju Jois (Ashtanga Vinyasa) and Gert van Leeuwen (Critical Alignment Yoga and Therapy); eventually, this magical path led me to my love, partner, and teacher, Ryan Leier. I am blessed to study with Sri T Krishnmacharya’s youngest child, Sri Shubha, who embodies the lightness and love of a lifelong authentic Yogini. Art-making has always been a part of my life, and I am midway through a master’s level certification in Art Therapy; I am working on offerings that combine art-making and Yoga. My teaching style incorporates the Vinyasa Yoga movement and Buddhist mindfulness to bring people fully into the moment and their bodies. I uphold the teachings that have been passed to me. For example, I begin and end with a Sanskrit prayer and always incorporate Pranayama, the traditional Yogic Breathwork, into the practices. My classes are founded on the guiding principle that Yoga is a holistic wellness system, so I focus more on serving students’ needs and choosing poses from a therapeutic lens rather than on the aesthetic value.
